Pricing for the updated Toyota GR Corolla has now appeared on Toyota South Africa’s website, signalling the local arrival of the refreshed hot hatch.

The GR Corolla continues to be powered by Toyota’s 1.6 litre turbocharged three cylinder engine, producing 221 kW and 400 Nm (torque increased by 30 Nm). Power is sent to all four wheels via the GR FOUR all wheel drive system, which allows adjustable front to rear torque distribution. Buyers can choose between a six speed manual transmission or an eight speed automatic, both paired with selectable Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes. Top speed is listed at 230 km/h.

Chassis updates remain a core part of the GR Corolla package. GR tuned suspension is standard, while the Circuit edition adds front and rear limited slip differentials for improved traction. A mechanical handbrake is retained, reinforcing the car’s motorsport focused setup.

Inside, the GR Corolla features a seven inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and an upgraded audio system. A heads up display is available on the Circuit edition, along with blind spot monitoring. Driver assistance systems include adaptive cruise control and a reverse camera.

Safety equipment is comprehensive across the range, with Toyota Safety Sense fitted as standard. This includes anti lock braking, electronic brake force distribution, vehicle stability control and hill assist control.

Visually, the GR Corolla retains its wide body stance, flared arches and 18 inch alloy wheels. Exterior details include a forged carbon fibre roof, Bi LED headlamps with automatic high beam, hood vents and a rear spoiler. Inside, GR branded seats, a leather trimmed steering wheel and a six way adjustable driver’s seat complete the cabin.
