OMODA has confirmed that the C5 SHS will launch in South Africa in March 2026, adding a hybrid option to its compact crossover line-up. The new derivative expands the C5 range, which remains the brand’s best-selling model locally.
The C5 SHS is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a 18.3 kWh LFP battery. Combined output stands at 165 kW and 310 Nm, with drive sent to the front wheels through OMODA’s Dedicated Hybrid Transmission. The setup allows the C5 SHS to complete the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 7.9 seconds.

Efficiency is a key focus of the hybrid system. On the combined cycle, the C5 SHS records fuel consumption of 5.3L/100km and offers a claimed driving range of over 1,000 km on a single tank. CO₂ emissions are rated at 120 g/km. The electric motor handles most low-speed and steady driving, with the petrol engine assisting when required.
The Super Hybrid System is designed to prioritise smooth and quiet operation. Noise-suppressing glass further contributes to a more refined cabin environment.

Standard specification includes a 12.3-inch dual-screen layout for the driver display and infotainment system, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Safety and driver assistance systems include Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and Lane Change Assist, among a total of 20 assistance features.
Comfort and convenience features include black leather upholstery, an eight-speaker sound system, a power-operated tailgate and a sunroof. Additional details and final pricing will be confirmed closer to the model’s local on-sale date.
The OMODA C5 SHS is scheduled to arrive in South Africa in March 2026.
