Mercedes-Benz has revealed the most comprehensive update yet for the current S-Class, marking 140 years since Carl Benz invented the automobile. More than half of the car has been newly developed, updated or refined, making this the most extensive mid-cycle update in a single S-Class generation.

Visually, the new S-Class introduces a stronger road presence. For the first time, an optionally illuminated Mercedes star can be specified on the bonnet, paired with a larger illuminated grille and next-generation DIGITAL LIGHT headlamps. These new micro-LED headlights offer a wider and more precise illumination field, improving visibility while reinforcing the S-Class’ distinctive light signature.

At the heart of the update is the new Mercedes-Benz Operating System, known as MB.OS. Acting as a central supercomputer, it connects infotainment, driving assistance and vehicle systems into a single digital ecosystem. Over-the-air updates allow the S-Class to receive new features and improvements throughout its lifecycle, keeping the vehicle future-ready.

Inside, the cabin continues to focus on comfort, technology and personalisation. The standard MBUX Superscreen spans the dashboard, combining the central display and passenger screen under one glass surface. The latest MBUX system introduces a more intuitive interface, AI-based voice control and Google Maps-based navigation. Rear passengers can turn the cabin into a mobile office or relaxation space, with optional first-class rear seating, large displays, remote controls and video conferencing capability.

A wide range of electrified powertrains is available, including six- and eight-cylinder petrol and diesel engines, as well as a plug-in hybrid offering an electric range of around 100 km. Ride comfort is supported by AIRMATIC air suspension as standard, with optional E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL and rear-axle steering enhancing comfort, stability and manoeuvrability.

Safety remains a defining pillar of the S-Class. The updated model features an advanced sensor suite, enhanced driver assistance systems and a refined restraint system with up to 15 airbags, reinforcing its position as a benchmark for occupant protection.

The new S-Class can be ordered from 30 January 2026 in selected markets, with further details to be confirmed for local availability.
