Mercedes-AMG dropped a teaser yesterday that left us wondering what the manufacturer was up to.
The manufacturer has finally revealed its new GLE 53 4Matic+ that slots between the powerful GLE 63 and GLE 43.
Although it looks pretty similar to the standard GLE, the GLE 53 features what we deem as a fresh look by adding of the Panamericana grille with an array of vertical uprights to the front end.
It features a hybrid-assisted turbocharged 3.0 litre inline six engine that churns out 320 kW in total. So in short, you get a combustion engine, turbo, electric supercharger, and integrated starter-generator.
All that enable the SUV to gallop from 0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds (5.7 seconds for the GLE 43) and to an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h – the GLE 43 Coupe makes 270 kW and 520 Nm from a 3.0 V6 engine.
The new GLE 53 comes standard with an air suspension and seven damping modes, including Comfort, Sport, Sport+, Trail, and Sand.
The interior comes standard with a black faux leather and red microfibre. A dual-screen MBUX infotainment system also finds its way to the model. There are sports seats plus leather upholstery and carbon fibre accents as options.
To those who wish to have more passengers, you can opt for the third row of seats.
Local availability and pricing still remain a mystery.
