Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI and R set for 2020

As we await the reveal of VW Golf’s eighth generation, a spokesperson from the company has announced that the next Golf GTI and R are both planned to come out in 2020.

Recently, VW has called the next R a ‘fantastic’ car and a ‘performance king’.

The GTI will spawn the familiar 2.0-litre turbopetrol engine but tuned differently to gush out more power than the current Mk7.

It remains unknown when VW is going to debut the Golf 8, but speculations suggest the manufacturer may be planning to reveal it at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
