Opel is here to stay and nothing says that more than their range which keeps on expanding. The latest addition is the automatic version of the Opel Astra Sport 1.6T.

The front wheel drive automatic Astra is powered by a 1.6 four cylinder engine that kicks out 147kW of power and 280 Nm of torque. Notwithstanding the impressive power figures, the turbo petrol powered Astra is said to consume a mere 6.1l/100 km.

There will be no mistaken the Astra with Opel’s IntelliLux LED matrix lighting system and LED daytime running lights. Adding to the sporty look is the standard OPC-Line Sport Pack with colour-coded door handles. This pack also includes interior features such as alloy sport pedals, sport-mode switch and a sporty, heated leather steering wheel. Entertainment is taken care of courtesy of Opel’s Navi 900 IntelliLink System with an 8-inch Touchscreen and Dynamic Navigation.

The car rides on 18-inch alloy tyres and those wishing for an even classier look can opt for the option tilt and slide sunroof.

Key safety features include ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) with Brake-Assist, EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution), HSA (Hill-Start Assist) and APA2 – Advanced Park-Assist.

The Opel Astra Sport 1.6T Automatic is priced from R508,000. The price includes a 3 year/120,000 km warranty and road side assistance and 5 year/90,000 km service plan.
