    Hyundai Venue gives SUV buyers more options

    Hyundai South Africa recently Hyundai Venue its local product line-up. The compact SUV is said to rival the likes of the Volkswagen’s T-Cross and Ford Ecosport. In terms of looks, the new Hyundai SUV has a fresh and modern exterior design.

    Expanding line-up

    The Hyundai Venue slots in under Hyundai’s Creta and Kona offering in terms of size and price. The Hyundai Venue has a wheelbase of 2 500 mm, an overall length of 3 995 mm and it is 1 617 mm high. The Hyundai Venue is a front-wheel drive and does not offer any four-wheel drive options in the range. The Hyundai Venue comes in the following 3 derivatives: (1) the entry level Motion spec, (2) the mid-level Fluid spec and (3) the top-end Glide spec. Both the Motion and Fluid derivatives are offered in both manual and automatic transmission, whilst the Glide derivative is only offered in the automatic transmission.

    Engine

    The Hyundai Venue shares the same engine with the Hyundai Kona and is powered by a 1.0-litre turbocharged 3-cylinder which produces 88 kW of power and 172 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with either a 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic gearbox transmission. Hyundai claims that the Venue consumes 6.5 L/100 km.

    Interior

    Inside, the Fluid and Glide derivatives come standard with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay compatibility. The Hyundai Venue is said to have decent legroom, headroom and luggage space with a claimed capacity of 350 litres for the boot. The Hyundai Venue also comes with features such as auto aircon (climate control), cornering lamps, a 60/40 split rear seat (the whole bench folds as one on lesser derivatives), keyless start, front fog lamps and fabric seats. Other technology features of the Venue include cruise control, automatic headlights and rear park assist with camera.

    Safety

    In terms of safety, the Venue has electronic stability control, ABS, EBD and ISOfix mounts in the rear for family buyers. The Motion derivation is fitted with a pair of front airbags while the Fluid and Glide come with 6 airbags (additional side and curtain units).

    Hyundai Venue 1.0 TGDI Glide DCT      R369,900

    Prices include Hyundai’s 5-year/150,000 km warranty with a further 2-year/50,000 km powertrain warranty, a 3-year/45,000 km service plan and 7 year/150,000km roadside assistance.
