Porsche has taken covers off its 2021 Porsche Cayenne GTS and Coupe GTS models, and there is some good news. The GTS models adopt a V8 and drop the 3.6-litre V6 biturbo engine. That is refreshing in a world where downsizing is the order of the day.
Fire breathing V8
The newly adopted four-litre biturbo V8 engine makes 338 kW and 620 Nm. This 14 kW and 20 Nm power hike compared to its predecessor. Paired with a Tiptronic S eight-speed automatic transmission and employing all-wheel drive, both GTS models sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds and have a top speed of 270 km/h. The sprint from zero to 100 km/h is now 0.6 seconds faster with the Sport Chrono package, while the top speed has increased by eight km/h. The bigger engine does not mean a loss of efficiency as Porsche says it will consume a combined 11.4 to 11.2 l/100 km.
Other performance upgrades include Porsche Active Suspension Management dampers and dropping the ride height by 20 millimetres. Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus is also fitted as standard.
The GTS model ride on standard 21-inch RS Spyder Design wheels. Stopping the sheer performance of the GTS are grey cast iron brakes (390 x 38 mm at the front, 358 x 28 mm at the rear) which are fitted with red brake callipers, and offered as standard.
Porsche Surface Coated Brakes or the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes are available as an option. Customers can further individualize their car with the 10 mm-lower three-chamber air suspension, rear-axle steering and the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control active roll stabilisation system.
Looks
The GTS model come standard with the Sport Design package. This includes visual enhancements such as LED headlights with Porsche Dynamic Light System and the LED tail light bar which are dark-tinted. The front air intakes, side window trims, tailpipes of the sports exhaust system and the model and Porsche logos on the rear are all in Black.
Both models enjoy and upgraded sports exhaust featuring a pair of oval exhaust at each corner. The GTS Coupe gets an optional Lightweight Sport Package featuring two centrally positioned oval tailpipes.
Inside, GTS logos can be found on the front doors, door entry sills, rev counter and head restraints. The roof lining, seat centre panels, centre console armrests and doors are finished in alcantrara. GTS models also get exclusive standard eight-way sports seats and an optional GTS interior package, with additional colour accents in Carmine Red or Crayon.
