In 2007, the Peugeot 3008 scooped European car of the Year and as it enters its second phase of its lifecycle – the manufacturer has pulled all the stops with its refreshed look.
Avid Peugeot fans would have noticed that the new large front grill carries the look seen in recent models from the 208 and 508 fastback which we unfortunately don’t get in South Africa.
Exterior
The facelift boasts a frameless design front-grill with redesigned headlights and ‘fang-like’ daytime running lights that double as indicators which extend all the way down to the bumpers. Shots from the rear do not reveal much updates.
Interior
The i-Cockpit has been updated with a larger 10-inch touchscreen replacing the 8-inch infotainment system of the pre-facelifted model. The drivers display is a digital 12.3-inch that complements the 10-inch touch screen and is a fully customizable.
Engines
Models equipped with an automatic transmission now come as standard with selectable Normal, Sport, and Eco driving modes. The hybrid 3008 allows drivers to pick between Electric, Hybrid, Sport, and 4WD modes.
Petrol engines will include a 1.2 Turbo three Cylinder engine (95kW) available in a 6-Speed manual or 8-Speed automatic. There is also a 1.6L Turbo four Cylinder engine (132kW) which is only available in an 8-speed automatic.
The diesel engine will be a four Cylinder 1.5L Turbo Diesel (95kW) available in a 6-Speed manual or 8-Speed automatic.
Environment conscious folks will be happy to know that Peugeot is also bringing out 2 Hybrids. Starting with a two-wheel-drive model combining a 132kW combustion engine with a single 80kW electric motor and an 8-Speed automatic. It offers a combined output of 165kW and 360 Nm for a 0-100 km/h in 8.7 seconds and a top speed of 225 km/h.
Local pricing and availability is yet to be announced.
