In 2006 Mercedes-Benz introduced a luxury SUV which was known back then as the GL. The German automaker then changed the name to GLS in 2015, with the S emphasizing the luxury character of the luxo-barge on stilts. Fast forward a couple of years, Mercedes-Benz introduced the second generation of “S-Class of SUVs”.

Exterior
Up front, the new GLS features a prominent radiator grille with vertical slats. It is flanked by distinctive headlights. The front bumper features chrome accents and a skid plate which emphasizes the seven-seater’s off-road readiness. The side-profile is clean and only features a sharp crease above the door handles. Slim taillights, a chrome and a skid plate dominate the rear end.
Interior
Entering the cabin of the GLS you are greeted by illuminated Mercedes-Benz lettering and large screens on the dashboard running the company’s brilliant MBUX touchscreen infotainment system as well as posh leather seats. The new GLS is 60 mm longer than its predecessor which improves rear legroom for second row passengers. The third row seats can be stowed away electronically increasing the luggage capacity from 355-litres to 890-litres. With third and second row seats folded, the GLS offers 2400-litres luggage capacity.
