Since its introduction back in 2017, the Haval H2 has been a popular choice for consumers who are in the market for an affordable compact SUV. In late 2020, Haval South Africa launched the updated H2. Fast forward a few months later, the Chinese automaker’s local arm has introduced the all-new Jolion.

    Looks

The successor of the H2 debuted at the 2020 Beijing Motor Show. It’s longer (4468mm up by 103mm) and wider (1841mm up by 27mm) than the H2. The Jolion has a daring look thanks to its flamboyant daytime running lights and LED taillights. A large shinny grille, chrome finished accents from the diffuser to the branded side garnish add to the overall beautiful design.

The Jolion comes standard with 17-inch wheels and 18-inch wheels depending on the grade.

    Cabin

The cabin is premium looking thanks to rotary drive select, stitching on the dashboard, digital cluster borrowed from the P-Series and floating infotainment touchscreen. The cabin is also fairly spacious with rear passengers enjoying decent amounts of legroom thanks to virtually there being no hump on the rear floor.

Fully loaded Jolions will feature a panoramic roof, surround sound system, 360-degree view cameras, floating 12.3” infotainment screen and wireless charging. Push button starting as well as keyless entry is standard fitment across the range. To stay connected, the Jolion also features charging ports for driver and front passenger as well as for two rear passengers.

    Safety

Active and passive safety systems include EPB, cruise control, dual and front airbags, child locks, ABS and EBD as well as electronic stability control. Anti-roll, secondary collision mitigation, hill assist, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear park sensors also come as standard.

    Powertrain

The Jolion will be powered by a 1.5L VVTI turbopetrol engine producing 116 kW and 220 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 7-speed DCT.
