    Toyota South Africa has announced that the Luxury grade for its crossover SUV, the Toyota C-HR, has received notable styling and safety upgrades.

    Exterior design and technology

    Following last year’s facelift, the exterior of the top-spec Toyota C-HR Luxury receives darkened head and tail lights with fancy sequential turn signals. The headlights feature high-intensity Bi-beam LED light clusters with integrated Daytime Running Lights (DRL). The fog lamps in turn have also been upgraded to LED spec. The C-HR’s restyled rear lights receive a dramatic three-segment LED design, complemented by smoked light surrounds and horizontal cross section.

    Customers can choose between five striking colour combinations, namely White Pearl, Passion Red, Lunar Metallic, Cosmic Blue and Inferno Orange Metallic.

    Upgraded safety features

    The C-HR Luxury grade features the automaker’s Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), which has been upgraded with the addition of all-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), while the Lane Departure Alert (LDA) system now boasts Lane Trace functionality which helps with avoiding unplanned lane departure and assist with centering the vehicle within the lane while following the natural arc of the road.

    Other safety technology includes Pre-Collision System (PCS), Auto High Beam (AHB), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM). These also fall under the Toyota Safety Sense suite.

    Spec & features

    The C-HR Luxury grade is feature-packed thanks to keyless entry, push start operation, auto-retractable side mirrors, rain-sensing wipers and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror. Park Distance Control (PDC), automatic climate control, heated seats, Multi-Information Display, a touch display infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and luxurious leather interior (with diamond motif). The Toyota Connect in-car telematics and Wi-Fi system (with complimentary 15GB) has also been included.

    Powertrain

    Powering the Toyota C-HR Luxury is a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired to either a CVT or a 6-speed manual transmission. It produces 85 kW and 185 Nm, and has a claimed fuel consumption of 6.3 litres per 100 km (6.4 for the CVT).

    Pricing & warranty

    C-HR 1.2T – R402,300;

    C-HR 1.2T Plus – R436,300;

    C-HR 1.2T Plus CVT – R449,300; and

    CHR 1.2T Luxury CVT – R519,900.

    All C-HR models are sold with a 6-services/90 000 km service plan (intervals set at 15 000 km) and 3-year/100 000km warranty. Customers can also purchase a variety of service and/or warranty add-ons at their local dealership
