Isuzu Motors South Africa has announced the imminent arrival of the all-new, second generation Isuzu mu-X seven-seater SUV. The new MU-X boasts bold new looks, a host of new technology as well as passive and active safety systems.

    Bold new look

Up-front, the seven-seater SUV borrowed a few design cues from the 2021 Isuzu D-Max, which it shares the same platform with. An octagonal-like grille with two horizontal slats are flanked by slim headlights which gives the new mu-X an aggressive look. A sharp crease above the door handles, which feature keyless entry, extends from the front to the rear fender. The rear features unique taillights and a skid plate emphasizing the mu-X’s off-road readiness.

    Premium interior

Like the D-Max, the interior of the mu-X looks premium with a touch of unique detailing to help differentiate it from the D-Max. A 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay is fitted to the center of the posh-looking dashboard.

    Safety

The next generation mu-X will be equipped with a suite of passive and active safety systems. These include a segment first center airbag between front seats, radar cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert and speed sign recognition, to name a few.

    Availability

The mu-X is manufactured at Isuzu’s Samrong vehicle assembly facility in Thailand. It will be fully imported into South Africa for sale to the South African as well as Right-Hand Drive markets of rest of Africa. Additional product information and pricing will be made available closer to the launch date.
