The updated Jaguar F-Pace has finally landed in Mzansi. The British automaker’s premium SUV boasts refreshed exterior and interior styling with new technologies and powerful yet efficient diesel and petrol engines.

    Updated exterior design

The Jaguar F-Pace boast a sculpted new bonnet, sporty front-bumper with large air inlets, a wider grille with ‘diamond’ detailing flanked by super-slim all-LED quad headlights with ‘Double J’ Daytime Running Light (DRL) signatures.
Noticeable rear-end updates include new slimline taillights featuring Jaguar’s double chicane graphic and a revised rear-bumper. All models are available with the additional Black Exterior Pack featuring bespoke elements finished in Gloss Black.

    F-Pace R-Dynamic Black

For a more dramatic look, customers can opt for the R-Dynamic Black package which adds gloss black exterior finishes, a set of 20-inch wheels, model specific badging, high-end interior materials and a fixed glass roof to list a few.

    Updated interior design and technology

Inside, the updated F-Pace features new finishes, including open-pore wood veneers and aluminium, which can be found in the upper door insert and full width ‘Piano lid’ that is formed across the width of the instrument panel while the new centre console sweeps up to the instrument panel and incorporating a wireless charger, and greater stowage capacity, while laser-etched mid-line speaker frets and the metallic rotary dial of the JaguarDrive Control epitomise the attention-to-detail.

The new F-Pace is also fitted with Jaguar’s new centrally-mounted 11.4-inch curved-glass HD Pivi Pro touchscreen and a configurable 12.3-inch HD Interactive Driver Display. Other note worthy features include Active Road Noise Cancellation, the optional Cabin Air Ionisation and the second-generation wearable Activity Key.

    Powertrains

The new F-PACE is available in South Africa with two diesel and three petrol engine options, all featuring intelligent all-wheel drive and eight-speed automatic transmissions.

    Diesel choices include a next-generation 147kW/430Nm D200 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium, while a new D300 3.0-litre in-line six cylinder diesel producing 221kW and 700Nm delivers acceleration from 0-100km/h in 6.4 seconds.

A 2.0-litre four-cylinder P250 Ingenium engine with 184kW and 365Nm, which completes the 0-100km/h test in 7.3 seconds, serves as an entry point to the petrol range, while a new 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder P400 boasts outputs of 294kW and 550Nm thanks to its mild-hybrid (MHEV) system. In P400 form the new F-PACE is capable of 0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds.

A new 2.0-litre four-cylinder plug-in hybrid (PHEV) model produces a combined 297kW and 640Nm from its petrol engine and 105kW electric motor. The advanced electric motor is powered by a 17.1kWh lithium-ion battery and helps contribute to a claimed fuel economy from 2.2l/100km as well as impressive performance figures of 0-100km/h in 5.3 seconds.

When fully charged, the new PHEV is capable of up to 53km of all-electric driving, enabling the new F-PACE PHEV to complete an average daily commute of 30.2km in EV mode without requiring a recharge. Fast Charging (32kW DC) is capable of delivering 0-80 per cent charge at a claimed 30 minutes while a domestic 7kW wall box can provide a charge of 0-80 per cent in as little as 1 hour 40 minutes.
