The Urban Cruiser, introduced in March this year, has found great favour with the South African public, racking up over 900 sales each month. For added value and no doubt to score more sales, Toyota has introduced a feature-packed mid-grade Xs.

    Exterior

The Toyota Urban Cruiser Xs is offered with keyless-entry with push start, electric windows all round, tilt-adjustable steering, power-adjustable mirrors, LED headlamps and LED Daytime Running Lights (DRL) as standard. In addition, the exterior also features alloy wheels, roof rails, body-coloured door handles, power-retractable mirrors and rear window wiper with demister function.

Additionally, in Xs guise, the Urban Cruiser is equipped with black 16-inch alloy wheels (visually tying in with the black moulded trim and C-pillar garnish). These are shod with 215-60-R16 tyres with a full-size spare wheel in the boot.

    Interior

Inside, buyers can look forward to auto air-conditioning (climate control), a secondary cooled glove compartment and 60:40 split backrest. Rear Park Distance Control (PDC) and reverse camera is also part of the deal.

The Urban Cruiser range features a touchscreen infotainment system which incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto

    Engine and transmission

All Urban Cruiser models are powered by a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engine delivering 77 kW and 138 Nm. Fuel consumption is registered at a frugal 6.2 litres per 100km. Top speed is 170 km/h. Buyers have the option of a 5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic, driving the front wheels.

    Towing Capacity

A class-leading towing capacity of 400 kg unbraked and 1100kg braked, gives buyers the option of towing a small trailer or mounting bicycle racks.
