Sleek and quick EQS53 4Matic+ with 1,020 Nm is Mercedes-AMG’s first-ever electric car

Mercedes-AMG took the veils off their first-ever, all-electric, uber luxurious sedan – the Mercedes-AMG EQS53 4Matic+. It is tailor-made for car enthusiasts who are looking for a combination of innovative electric mobility in a luxurious ambience, coupled with sportiness and agile driving dynamics.

    Exterior

Apart from the AMG-specific black panel grille with hot-stamped vertical struts in chrome, AMG A-wing design, integrated rear wing, rear diffuser and AMG lettering the high-performance EQS doesn’t look too different from the standard EQS.

For customers who want a sporty-looking EQS53 AMG with unique appointments then the AMG Night Package with dark chrome, red brake callipers, AMG carbon trim elements, AMG seat covers in nappa leather with specific seat graphics and a choice of aerodynamically optimised 21- and 22-inch AMG light-alloy wheels might do the trick.

    Interior

Inside, the Mercedes-AMG EQS53 4Matic+ gets AMG man-made in Artico leather seats, an AMG flat-bottom steering wheel, red stitching, AMG pedals and AMG floor mats. As standard, the Mercedes-AMG EQS53 4Matic+ is equipped with the large and curved MBUX Hyperscreen.

    Power and performance

The new EQS53 4Matic+ is powered by two AMG specific electric motors, one km each axle with fully-variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive, and a 400-volt battery with a capacity of 107.8 kWh. The standard EQS53 makes 484 kW and 950 Nm while the EQS53 with AMG Dynamic Plus package increases the power and torque to 560 kW in Race Start mode and has a maximum torque of 1020 Nm. With this package 0-100 km/h is achieved in 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h while the standard EQS53 is limited to 220 km/h.

Mercedes-Benz claims 300 km (WLTP) can be “topped up” in just 19 minutes at quick charging stations.

So, what about soundtrack? Well, Mercedes-Benz says the sound system in the EQS53 4Matic+ uses special loudspeakers, shakers and a sound generator to create a special sound experience in two versions: “Authentic” or “Performance”.

Stopping power comes in the form of high-performance compound brake system with six-piston brake callipers and brake discs measuring 415×33 mm at the front, and single-piston brake callipers and brake discs measuring 378×22 mm at the rear. Larger AMG ceramic discs are available as optional extras.
