Volkswagen Commercial has revealed a few design sketches of the third-generation Amarok which will make its debut in 2022. The new Amarok, which will be based on the recently unveiled Ranger platform, is currently being developed by teams in Australia and Europe, and will be built right here in Mzansi Africa.
What we can tell from the design sketches, Volkswagen’s premium bakkie will feature various innovations and shows off-roaders numerous possible uses. Although the sketches hide much of the exterior design, we can tell the new Amarok will bear a bold, muscular new look and a front-end with Volkswagen’s new family face.

Like the new Ranger it also features a digital instrument cluster, a large portrait touch display and Volkswagen’s current multifunction steering wheel.
The Amarok nameplate has been in series production since 2010. The premium bakkie used to be made in Hannover and will continue to be built in Pacheco in Argentina. The newest version will also going forward be built at Ford’s Silverton Plant in South Africa. Over the last decade, more than 800,000 Amarok vehicles have been sold globally.
