BMW South Africa has announced the pricing of the all-new and fully-electric iX. The bold-looking iX is the first model based on a new, modular, scalable toolkit on which the future of the BMW Group products will be built. Inside, the iX features latest technology and sustainable materials like the floating curved displays running the latest iDrive 8 system, hexagonal shaped steering wheel and 50-percent recycled polyester materials.
Performance
There are two variants to choose from, namely the xDrive50 and xDrive40. Both variants use the latest fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology and an electric motor on each axle. The motors generate a combined output of 385 kW in the BMW iX xDrive50, enabling it to sprint to 100 km/h from rest in 4.6 seconds. The 100 kWh battery has a range of 630 km and will average between 23 – 19.8 kWh/100 km (WLTP) for the iX xDrive 50.
The drive system in the BMW iX xDrive40 has a maximum output of 240 kW and propels the car from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds. It has a claimed electric driving range of 425 km and an electric power consumption between 22.5 – 19.4 kWh/100 km (WLTP).
