One of South Africa’s biggest automotive news last year was the return of Chery to Mzansi. Since then, the Chinese automaker launched 42 new dealers across South Africa and launched their entry-level SUV – the Chery Tiggo 4 Pro.

Tiggo 8 Pro
Chery SA said due to the success of the Tiggo 4 Pro and the growth in customer, and dealer demand has prompted them to expedite the launch of the Tiggo 8 Pro. Chery adds that the Tiggo 8 Pro has already been tested locally and homologated for our market.
7-Seater SUV
The Chinese automaker’s local arm also revealed that two models of the 7-seater Tiggo 8 Pro will be available at launch. Both will be fitted with Chery’s award-winning 1.6 TGDI petrol-engine, which used advanced thermal management, adaptive turbo charging and direct injection to deliver 136 kW and 290 Nm.

Chery SA claims both models will also offer industry-leading levels of luxury and technology. This includes features such as Around View Monitor, an 8-speaker SONY sound system, two high definition TFT displays (with a third in the flagship model) and dual-zone climate control with pharmaceutical grade N95 air filtration.
More details on spec, pricing and other information on the Tiggo 8 Pro will be released closer to the Tiggo 8 Pro’s local launch.
Here is another Brand to look out for… Cherry. It has truly been the year of GWM/ Haval. Lets give Props where there are due. If you go looking for a PSeries Double Cab, Jolion or H6. U will get told the same story… Stock is an issue. Same as looking for a New Mahindra Single Cab… Stock issues. Were demand by far outstrips supply. This brand is coming up with some unique value propositions. This new model is now taking on one of the most populated segments. The Mid Size SUV.. From looks and power alone it. I assume it will join the likes of the Mazda CX5, Hyundai Tuscon, Toyota Rav 4, VW Tiguan, Haval H6, Ford Kuga, Renault Koleos and a whole lot more. I wish it good luck. As long as it gives good affordable tech and good Warranties and Service Plans. It should do OK. I know a lot of people will be concerned about long term reliability. To those who think that way. Remember these wise words. There are just cars and not the great Pyramids of Giza. A lot like cell phones. Most modern cars have a life span and it is short…
