In celebration of their 50 year milestone, Porsche Design has revealed the new Porsche 911 Edition 50Y Porsche Design. The limited edition 911 Targa model is a nod to the pictured classic 1972 Porsche 911 S 2.4 Targa, which pays tribute to Ferdinand Alexander Porsche and has been restored by Porsche Classsic.

The 911 Edition 50Y Porsche Design features an all-black exterior, checked Sport-Tex seat centre panels and the standard red second hand of the Porsche Design Sub-second clock in the Sport Chrono Package. The limited edition 911 Targa is based on the Targa 4 GTS model which means it’s powered by a turbocharged 3.0 litre flat-six boxer engine delivering 353 kW and 570 Nm. Porsche claims the GTS models will sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package. It’s mated to an 8-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) or a 7-speed manual and has a top speed of 307km/h.

The GTS models are equipped with GTS-specific suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), and the high-performance braking system from the 911 Turbo, ensure the superior transmission of longitudinal and lateral forces. Driving dynamics will be further improved with the Lightweight Design package, which will be available on the GTS for the first time and saves up to 25 kg.

Only 750 models will be built and its priced at R2,949,000. It also comes with Porsche’s 3 year Drive Plan.
