Volvo South Africa has announced the local pricing of the much-anticipated XC40 P6 Recharge. The order books for the newcomer will officially open on Tuesday 26 July at 08h00, with the XC40 P6 Recharge available exclusively online through the My Volvo website from a starting price of R1,075,000.
XC40 P6 Recharge performance
Unlike its powerful XC40 P8 Recharge sibling, the P6 employs a single-electric motor mounted to the front axle. Maximum power and torque outputs are 170kW and 330Nm. Volvo claims it sprints from 0-100km/h sprint in just 7.4 seconds. It’s a low-mounted, high-voltage 69kWh lithium-ion battery enables the P6 Recharge to travel up to 423km (WLTP) on a single charge. As standard, it’s also fitted with a 11kW onboard charger.
The XC40 P6 Recharge utilises a shift-by-wire, single-speed transmission featuring a short gear ratio. According to Volvo SA this results in a sprightly off-the-line acceleration, improved hill-climbing ability and increased towing capacity (which matches that of the twin-motor model at 1 500kg braked).
XC40 P6 Recharge specification
The list of standard features includes items such as wireless smartphone charging, parking sensors (front and rear), a reversing camera and the company’s latest Android-powered touchscreen infotainment system, complete with built-in Google apps and services. Optional extras include panoramic sunroof and heated seats/steering wheel. Customers may also choose to upgrade to 20-inch wheels, from the original 19-inch wheels.
All-new exterior paint colour choices, meanwhile, include Fjord Blue and Bright Dusk, while Silver Dawn likewise joins the XC40 P6’s comprehensive colour palette.
