BMW has taken the covers off their new X5 Protection VR6. This model incorporates an armoured body and specially designed safety glass that meet the stringent requirements of Germany’s Association of Test Laboratories for Attack-Resistant Materials and Constructions (VPAM) for both ballistic and blast resistance. The vehicle’s official certification aligns with Bullet Resistant Vehicles (VPAM BRV) and Explosive Resistant Vehicles (VPAM ERV) guidelines.

In terms of design, the new BMW X5 Protection VR6 maintains an almost indistinguishable appearance from its standard counterpart, ensuring inconspicuousness on public roads while catering to individuals seeking enhanced security.

The interior showcases a spacious cabin with a four-seater layout, maintaining the same comfort and space as the standard BMW X5. Inside, the BMW X5 Protection VR6 features the fully digital BMW Curved Display, providing a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display behind a single glass surface. The vehicle’s interior also boasts features like four-zone automatic climate control, M leather steering wheel, and ambient lighting.

Under the hood, the X5 Protection VR6 is powered by a V8 engine equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology, delivering agile handling and efficiency. The burly V8 puts out 390 kW and 750 Nm of torque, a will do a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds.

The BMW X5 Protection VR6 incorporates advanced chassis technology, including adaptive M suspension Professional, Integral Active Steering, and active roll stabilisation. BMW says this combination enhances controllability, agility, and steering precision while maintaining ride comfort. Deliveries are expected to commence in February 2024.
