At this years Festival of Motoring a handful of car manufacturers debut some cool cars which will be sold in SA at a later stage. One of the automakers is Chery SA who debuted the updated Tiggo 7 Pro Max which gets subtle yet noticeable exterior updates. The interior gets most of the updates which are similar to the recently launched Tiggo 8 Pro Max.

Exterior updates
On the outside, the updated Tiggo 7 Pro Max gets a revised front-end with a large radiator ‘galaxy’ grille adopted from the Tiggo 8 Pro Max. It also sports a redesigned lower front bumper with repositioned LED daytime running lights and some blue stripes that give it a modish look. The profile and rear of the Tiggo 7 Pro Max remain unchanged.

Interior design and tech updates
As mentioned above, the majority of the updates are inside. The design and tech used in the updated model are identical to the updated Tiggo 8 Pro Max. Updates include a massive 24.7-inch integrated digital instrument cluster and infotainment screens (both measuring 12.35 inches) that run on a new operating system featuring Chery’s intelligent voice command. Other noteworthy updates include the redesigned dashboard with touch sensitive panel for climate and media control, door panels with premium-looking styling, a center console with a newly designed gear lever and drive mode rotary dial, a newly designed multifunctional flat-bottom steering wheel and lastly sporty bucket seats which look similar to those found in the Omoda C5.
New engine and transmission
Chery has ditched the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol for a more powerful 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine which develops 145 kW and 290 Nm. The CVT gearbox has also been axed in favour of a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission found in other Chery models. There will also be an AWD option.
Availability
The updates introduced make the Tiggo 7 Pro Max a more attractive buy in a highly competitive segment. We can’t wait to sample the newcomer for our full evaluation. Chery South Africa is yet to announce the local availability and pricing.
