The 2023 Ford Ranger Wildtrak SuperCab is an impressive contender in its segment, marrying rugged off-road capabilities with urban versatility and super cool doors. Sporting a distinctive design that exudes confidence, this bakkie is set to capture the hearts of adventure enthusiasts and daily commuters who use this as a workhorse alike.

    Super-duper looks

The Wildtrak SuperCab doesn’t disappoint. Its bold exterior design, marked by a commanding front grille, muscular fenders, and an elevated stance, ensures that it stands out in any setting. Off-road aficionados will find solace in its robust suspension system, skid plates, and purpose-built off-road tires, making it a reliable companion on challenging terrains.

    Bakkie with suicide doors

Inside the cabin, the Wildtrak SuperCab strikes a balance between ruggedness and comfort. Quality materials, supportive seating, and intuitive controls create an inviting space for both drivers and passengers. Technophiles will appreciate the tech-focused features, including a user-friendly infotainment system, operable via the responsive touchscreen, smartphone integration, and advanced safety features that elevate the overall driving experience.

    Driving impressions

We found its fuel efficiency, to be fair considering its 154kW/500 Nm 2.0 bi-turbo engine. Urban maneuverability is another consideration, with the bakkie’s large size and turning radius demanding a bit more effort in navigating tight spaces and congested city streets, where contractors may find themselves.

When it comes to driving dynamics, the Wildtrak SuperCab shines in its powerful performance. The engine delivers ample power and torque, ensuring a confident response whether cruising on highways or tackling rugged trails. Despite its off-road prowess, it maintains a smooth and comfortable on-road ride, with the suspension system adeptly absorbing bumps and imperfections.

    Verdict

For those with an adventurous spirit looking for a companion as a workhorse or level 2 single cab will not be disappointed by the Wildtrak SuperCab as it merits serious consideration. A very cool bakkie.

The new Ford Ranger Wildtrak SuperCab is priced at R788,300 and is sold with a 4-year/120 000 km warranty, 4-year/unlimited roadside assistance. Service or maintenance plans up to 8-years or 165 000 km are optional.
