Opel has introduced the updated Mokka to the South African market, featuring visual enhancements, upgraded specifications, and a refreshed interior. The new model arrives alongside the latest Grandland as part of OPEL’s revitalised SUV lineup.

    Two model variants

The Mokka is available in two trims:

    • Mokka Edition (replacing the previous Elegance model)
    • Mokka GS Line

Both are powered by a turbocharged 1.2-litre petrol engine, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The engine produces 96kW at 5,500 rpm, offering a balance between performance and efficiency, with fuel consumption figures of 5.3–6.1 L/100km.

    Updated exterior design

The Mokka’s exterior features redesigned front and rear bumpers, improved aerodynamics, and updated ECO LED headlights with magnifying glass tech. The Edition model rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, while the GS Line features 18-inch rims and a standard Diamond Black Roof.

A new OPEL badge appears on the front Vizor grille, bootlid, and wheel centre caps. Both trims also get shark fin antennas, heated power-folding mirrors with Blind Spot Warning, and front and rear parking sensors. The GS Line adds lateral sensors and a rear-view camera.

    Interior and tech

    Inside, the Mokka features:

    • A 10-inch digital instrument cluster
    • A 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by Qualcomm
    • Navigation as standard
    • Wireless charging
    • A frameless electro-chrome rear-view mirror
    • A heated steering wheel, electronic parking brake, and eToggle gear knob

The Mokka Edition comes with cloth seats, while the GS Line adds heated and massage-enabled leather seats. USB ports include front USB-C for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and two USB-A ports at the rear.

    Design highlights

The Mokka retains its compact proportions at 4.15 metres long, with short overhangs and a wide stance. At the front, the OPEL Vizor combines the grille, headlights, and badge into one seamless design element.

The “Mokka” lettering on the tailgate is styled in a new font and stretched across the rear to emphasise width.

The OPEL Pure Panel interior setup focuses on simplicity, removing unnecessary clutter while keeping physical buttons for key functions.

    Advanced safety and driver aids

Available safety and driver assistance features on the GS Line include:

    • Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking and Pedestrian Detection
    • Adaptive Cruise Control (with Stop & Go functionality for automatic models)
    • LED lighting all around, including daytime running lights and thin rear lights for a refined look

    Pricing

    • OPEL Mokka 1.2T Edition: R519,900
    • OPEL Mokka 1.2T GS Line: R564,900

Both models come standard with a five-year/100,000km warranty and roadside assistance. A three-year/60,000km service plan is included, with service intervals every 12 months or 15,000km.
