GWM South Africa has added a new 2WD Diesel to its Tank 300 range, offering the same bold design and diesel performance at a more accessible price point.

The Tank 300 Diesel 2WD is powered by a 2.4L Turbo Diesel engine delivering 135 kW and 480 Nm of torque through a 9-speed automatic gearbox. It maintains the same 3-tonne braked towing capacity as the 4WD model, while achieving a fuel consumption of just 7.7 L/100 km.

The 2WD variant features a NCAP frame, electronic rear axle differential lock, transparent chassis view, and off-road thermal management mode.

Inside, the Tank 300 Diesel 2WD offers comfort and luxury with 6-way driver and 4-way passenger electric seat adjustments, synthetic leather upholstery, a rear centre armrest, and refined cabin detailing. Noise reduction features, dual-zone climate control, and premium finishes ensure a quiet and comfortable drive.

Technology and safety are well catered for with a dual 12.3” screen setup, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 9-speaker sound system, and advanced LED lighting. Safety features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Rear Collision Warning, Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Detection, 360° cameras, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and multiple airbags, giving the 2WD a 5-Star ANCAP rating.

The Tank 300 Diesel 2WD is available in Mars Red, White, Grey, Orange, and Black. Pricing for the 2WD Diesel starts at R649,900, with 4WD models ranging from R699,900 to R739,900.

Floyd Ramabulana, Head of Marketing for GWM SA, says, “With the arrival of the 2WD Diesel, we’ve opened the door for more South Africans to get behind the wheel of a Tank. It’s still unmistakably Tank – with 135 kW, 480 Nm, and premium spec – just now in a form that fits even more lifestyles.”

All Tank 300 Diesel models come with a comprehensive after-sales package, including a 7-year/200,000 km warranty, 7-year unlimited km roadside assistance, 7-year/75,000 km service plan, and 15,000 km/12-month service intervals.
