Audi South Africa has introduced the latest iteration of its S3 Sportback and S3 Sedan, bringing with them more power, cutting-edge driving technology, and refreshed styling. More than a mere facelift, the new S3 range delivers an all-round performance upgrade, blending precision engineering with progressive design and digital sophistication.

2.0 TFSI now with more power and torque

At the heart of the new Audi S3 lies a reworked 2.0-litre TFSI engine, now producing a muscular 245 kW and 420 Nm of torque – an impressive increase of 32 kW and 20 Nm over the previous model. The result? A blistering 0–100 km/h sprint in just 4.7 seconds, while top speed remains electronically limited to 250 km/h.

The power-band is broad and flexible, delivering maximum torque between 2,100 and 5,500 rpm, ensuring instant response in any gear. Audi has also fine-tuned the seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission for quicker shifts and a more engaging driving feel. Enhanced turbocharger pre-loading and improved throttle response make every press of the pedal feel more immediate and thrilling.

With more power comes greater braking demand. The upgraded S3 features larger perforated brake discs (357 mm) and new two-piston calipers up front, ensuring improved heat management and fade resistance. Standard 19-inch wheels complete the sporty stance, with three stylish designs available.

    Quattro meets torque splitter technology

For the first time, the Audi S3 adopts the advanced torque splitter previously reserved for the RS 3. This system optimises agility and stability by variably distributing torque between the rear wheels. Using electronically controlled multi-disc clutches, the system can direct more power to the outer wheel in a corner, enhancing grip, reducing understeer, and making the S3 more playful and responsive.

    Dynamic Plus Mode

The Audi drive select system now introduces a new Dynamic Plus mode, designed for those who crave sharper handling and greater excitement. In this setting, the torque splitter channels power primarily to the outer rear wheel, creating controlled oversteer and a more engaging cornering experience. Engine and transmission mapping are further refined, and the idle speed is raised for even quicker take-off response.

    Sharper handling and mproved stability

Audi’s engineers have revisited the S3’s suspension setup, incorporating stiffer bearings and new pivot points that allow for increased negative camber, resulting in improved grip and steering precision. The progressive steering has been recalibrated for better accuracy around the centre position, delivering a more confident and connected feel.

Standard S sport suspension lowers the car by 15 mm versus the A3, while an optional adaptive suspension offers a perfect balance between comfort and cornering precision. Updates to the Electronic Stabilisation Control (ESC) and wheel-selective torque control further enhance stability and agility under high-performance driving conditions.

    Sharper exterior design and styling

Visually, the new Audi S3 asserts its athleticism through a flatter, wider Singleframe grille, new L-shaped design elements, and larger side air intakes. Motorsport-inspired touches like a bold front spoiler and a redesigned rear diffuser reinforce its dynamic presence. The signature quad tailpipes remain a hallmark of the S3, while an optional performance exhaust with a titanium silencer adds a deeper, more emotional soundtrack.

New paint finishes, including District Green, Ascari Blue, and Progressive Red, offer fresh ways to express individuality. For the first time, a polar matt Daytona Grey finish is available for added exclusivity.

    Sporty, high-Tech interior

Inside, the S3’s cabin blends premium craftsmanship with digital innovation. Expect sport seats with integrated headrests, laser-cut illuminated fabric panels, aluminium or carbon fibre inlays, and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. Ambient lighting, a black headliner, and stainless-steel pedals amplify the sporty aesthetic.

The Audi virtual cockpit, 10.1-inch touchscreen, and SONOS 3D sound system are standard, while options such as MMI navigation plus and a head-up display enhance the tech-forward experience.

South African line-up and standard features

The new S3 range arrives locally in two variants:

Audi S3 Sportback TFSI 245 kW quattro S tronic

Audi S3 Sedan TFSI 245 kW quattro S tronic

Standard features include Matrix LED headlights, panoramic sunroof, 19-inch wheels, S sport suspension, red brake calipers, Park Assist, Side Assist, and SONOS premium 3D sound.

    Pricing and warranty

Available now at Audi dealerships across South Africa, pricing is as follows:

    S3 Sportback – R1,091,100

    S3 Sedan – R1,106,100

Each model is sold with a 5-year/100,000 km Audi Freeway Plan, with flexible finance options available through Audi Financial Services.
