MINI South Africa has added a new limited-run variant to its local line-up with the introduction of the MINI Countryman Rugged Edition. Exclusive to the South African market and limited to 100 units, the Rugged Edition leads the local range of the latest-generation MINI Countryman.

The new variant is positioned as an adventure-focused take on MINI’s largest model, featuring a number of unique design elements and practical additions aimed at buyers with active lifestyles.

    Distinctive design and practical touches

The Countryman Rugged Edition is distinguished by decorative bonnet stripes and a grille decal, drawing inspiration from the mountain-themed graphic found on the Countryman’s C-pillar badge. These elements are paired with 18-inch Y-spoke alloy wheels finished in Frozen Midnight Grey and fitted with all-terrain tyres.

Inside, the Rugged Edition builds on the standard Countryman specification with the addition of all-weather floor mats to better handle dirt and debris from outdoor use. Buyers can also select two complimentary roof-mounted accessories from the MINI Original Accessories range, choosing between a roof box or a bicycle carrier depending on their needs.

Four exterior colour options are available: Nanuq White, Smokey Green, Melting Silver and Legend Grey.

    Latest-generation Countryman platform

The Rugged Edition forms part of the latest-generation MINI Countryman, which was introduced globally in 2023. Compared to its predecessor, the new Countryman is longer and taller, offering increased interior space and improved practicality. It remains the largest vehicle in the MINI range and is positioned as a premium compact sports activity vehicle.

Locally, the Rugged Edition is offered in both Countryman C and Countryman S derivatives. Buyers can choose between Classic trim on both models, while the S is also available in Favoured trim.

    Engines and performance

The MINI Countryman C Rugged Edition is powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine producing 115 kW and 230 Nm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.0 seconds.

The Countryman S Rugged Edition uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine paired with ALL4 all-wheel drive, delivering 150 kW and 300 Nm. This version completes the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 7.4 seconds. Both models are equipped with a seven-speed automatic transmission.

    Pricing

MINI Countryman C Classic Rugged Edition: R833,903

MINI Countryman S Classic Rugged Edition: R953,928

MINI Countryman S Favoured Rugged Edition: R989,938

The MINI Countryman Rugged Edition is now available to order through MINI South Africa.
